Since they first opened its doors in 1983, June and David McLaurin have viewed Furniture Showcase & Design as an extension of their home. The couple, which grew up around both fine furnishings and friendly service in their home state of North Carolina, has always treated its employees and customers like family. So, when they chose to retire, it was only appropriate that the store remained in the family as well.
In September of 2005, Wendy McLaurin (now Wendy Kerr) departed her 14-year position as Senior Vice President/Chief Financial Officer of The Zimmerman Agency to purchase Furniture Showcase & Design. The store, with its location on Market Street, boasts a new logo and ad campaign created by Wendy's husband and partner Rob Kerr, Vice President/Associate Creative Director of The Zimmerman Agency, but will remain true to its philosophy of building relationships with its customers while eschewing the “hard-sell” approach typical of many furniture stores. In addition to a full range of design services, Furniture Showcase & Design offers styles ranging from traditional to transitional and groupings fit for both indoor and outdoor use, and has appointed the finest residences in North Florida and South Georgia for over 25 years with furnishings shipped directly from North Carolina to each customer's home or, in many cases, their second home.
Wendy Kerr is a graduate of Leon High School, and has a Bachelors of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida. In addition to Wendy and Rob, Furniture Showcase & Design currently employs four design consultants ready to guide customers through their purchase of furnishings, accessories, rugs, lighting, window treatments, wallpaper and many other home décor items. David and June McLaurin have remained involved as well, serving in the roles of business consultant and design consultant respectively.
Everett’s flair for the dramatic is evident in every home he touches. His inspiration graces homes in Rose Hill, Moore Pond, Southwood and Bobbin Trace.
